The Sacramento Kings are gunning for a playoff spot this season. But some say that they will not succeed if they will not address their shortcomings in the point guard position. And now, recent reports are saying that they might acquire Ricky Rubio from the Minnesota Timberwolves to fill in that spot aside from boosting up their lineup.

Currently, the Kings are at the 10th spot in the Western Conference division holding a 16-24 win-loss record and still have the big chance of making it to the postseason. They are just one game behind the Denver Nuggets who is sitting at the 8th spot. And going after Rubio could be just what they needed to solve their problem.

Before the regular season begun, Rubio was already linked to trade rumors but after a while his connection to rumor mills just fades away. And now, since the Timberwolves are struggling to have a good showing this season, trading Rubio to the Sacramento Kings could be viable option for them.

According to CBSSports, the Minnesota Timberwolves are said to be “actively shopping” Ricky Rubio and it seems that the Sacramento Kings is a strong candidate to acquire his services. Aside from Rubio, Shabazz Muhammad are also allegedly put on the trading block by the Timberwolves and could be going out before the trade deadline.

At one point, Rubio have been labeled as the Timberwolves future point guard. However, since his highly-anticipated arrival in 2011, the team never got in the postseason even he was teamed up to former Timberwolves superstar Kevin Love. But after the Timberwolves drafted Kris Dunn in the last 2016 draft, it seems that they got a successor for Rubio making him expendable to the team.

And now, one report is saying that the Kings have shown an interest in acquiring him to beef up their backcourt and solve their problem in the PG spot. According to Sir Charles In Charge, the Sacramento Kings would love to have Ricky Rubio in their lineup and help them stabilize the playmaking in their backcourt.

Having Rubio in the Kings lineup will definitely improve the offensive setting of the team. Playing him alongside DeMarcus Cousins could create a formidable combination that will somehow alleviate the standings of the Kings.

Will the Minnesota Timberwolves agree to send Ricky Rubio to the Sacramento Kings?
