The Indiana Pacers are struggling this season. Expectations were high for the Indiana Pacers coming into this 2016-2017 NBA season. The Indiana Pacers are expected to be in the top four of the Eastern Conference. Instead, the Indiana Pacers are a mess this season. The recent loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves on Tuesday, wherein the Indiana Pacers blew a fourth quarter lead and scored only two points in the last three minutes and nineteen seconds of the game, dropped their record to 37-37 and are barely hanging on the seventh spot in the Eastern Conference. That loss didn’t sit too well with the Indiana Pacers All-Star forward Paul George. Paul George made known his frustrations with the Indian Pacers to the media after the game.
Paul George let his frustrations and disappointment known to the media by saying the Indiana Pacers lack pride and don’t have any sense of urgency, according to a report from Fox Sports. The way Paul George was venting to the media seems like he’s had enough of the Indiana Pacers and may want out.
“I’m pissed,” Paul George said. “At this point in the season, you don’t have games like this, being up four with under a minute and letting an opponent come in and beat you, especially a young team. You don’t give that up. It’s a very frustrating loss.”
The recent outburst of Paul George should have the Indiana Pacers worried. There’s been a lot of talks that Paul George wants to play for the Los Angeles Lakers when he becomes a free agent, as reported by NESN.
Los Angeles is Paul George’s hometown and he grew up a Los Angeles Lakers fan. Playing for the Los Angeles Lakers is a dream come true for Paul George.
If the Indiana Pacers are not careful, they might lose Paul George as early this summer. Paul George still has a year left on his contract and will become a free agent next year.
The Indiana Pacers can’t offer Paul George the max contract because Paul George is not going to be named to the All-NBA team this year. That’s a big deal as Paul George can now look for more money elsewhere and the Los Angeles Lakers have the cap space to offer him that.
